First decent ride for me for a few months, from Leichhardt via Olympic Park and Granville and Guilford out to Prospect Dam and on to Canley Vale via Orphans School Creek. Some 23 riders came along on a very nice ride, led by Jaimie Honan. It was sunny and mild, just right for cycling, and everyone just hummed along. Everyone enjoyed the smooth going on the Prospect Canal cycleway and some more flat sections along Orphans School Creek. Even the steep little hills in the Western Sydney Regional Park were soon conquered.
We had a short break at the Dam and then a lunch break at Canley Vale, where the Vietnamese rolls were popular and cheap. A group of 6 rode to Fairfield to catch the train home, after about a 55 km ride from Leichhardt, (or 35 from Granville where some started). The rest continued on, through "fibro land", to Regents Park, Rookwood Cemetery (an interesting shortcut), and Strathfield, back to Leichhardt for an 80km + total.
All in all a great day out and hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. Looking forward to some great Spring cycling.
There will probably be some photos later here and on Meetup and I'll try to download the route we took off my phone unless someone beats me too it.
